Affiliate Disclosure

FTC Disclosure Compliance Rules

In 2015, the Federal Trade Commission released their new rules for Disclosure Compliance.

These rules have been put in place to ensure that readers (or viewers) of web content and media are made fully aware when or if the content publisher is sponsored, endorsed, or receiving affiliate commissions from a partnered company. The FTC would like to ensure that the readers, website visitors, and all consumers of content recognize and acknowledge that content publisher is making money by promoting, endorsing, or sharing a link to a product.

In compliance with the FTC guidelines, please assume the following about links and posts on this website:

Any or all of the links on Golfclubsadvisor.com are affiliate links for which the website owner receives compensation from sales of certain items.

What is an Affiliate Link?

An affiliate link is a unique link provided to affiliates or secondary websites (content publishers, bloggers, website owners) to promote an online service or product. Once a sale is generated from that unique link, then credit is issued to the affiliate in the form of a sales commission.

Often this unique link is a specific URL that contains the affiliate’s ID or username. In affiliate programs, advertisers use affiliate links to keep a record of the traffic that is sent to the advertiser’s website. This action is all part of an affiliate program.

In the case of this website, Golfclubsadvisor.com, when a website visitor clicks on an affiliate link located on Golfclubsadvisor.com to purchase an item, the reader buys the item from the seller directly (not from Golfclubsadvisor.com).

Amazon and/or other companies pay Golfclubsadvisor.com a small commission or other forms of compensation for promoting Amazon’s website or products through their affiliate program.

The price of the product (or service) remains the same for the website visitor if the purchase originates through an affiliate link or a non-affiliate link.

Note: You will NOT pay more by clicking through to the link.

Currently, Golfclubsadvisor.com uses two main types of affiliate programs:

1. Amazon Associates program

Golfclubsadvisor.com participates in the Amazon Associates Program. This is an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn commissions and revenue by advertising and linking to Amazon products.

Amazon offers a small commission on products sold through their affiliate links (typically around 5%).

Any purchase made via Golfclubsadvisor.com Amazon affiliate links supports the website at no additional cost to you, the website visitor.

If a content publisher links to an Amazon product (with the special code/ID for affiliates embedded in the link), and a reader places an item in their “shopping cart” through that link within 24 hours of clicking the link, the blogger gets a small percentage of the shopping cart sale.

Amazon links are not “pay per click.” If a reader clicks on the product link and then continues to shop for other non-endorsed products on Amazon’s website and purchases a new, different, non-endorsed product, then Golfclubsadvisor.com will also receive a commission on that sale.

2. Other Product affiliate links

Much like the previous descriptions above, these affiliate links work the same manner. If a visitor clicks on the link and buys a product through the same link, then the content publisher (Golfclubsadvisor.com) receives a percentage of the sale or another form of compensation. Again, prices are not increased or different when purchased through an affiliate link. A website visitor will not pay more by clicking through to the link. Equally, these links are not “pay per click.”

What about sponsored content?
